The kiondo is a hand-woven basket made from sisal which is a natural fiber grown in Kenya. The sisal fibers are hand dyed and hand-woven by women as a past time when they are not farming. Traditionally, kiondos were used to hold staple foods like beans and maize. Now these baskets have evolved into fashion hand bags.
